About the role

We are looking for a full-time Product Designer Engineer to join our small and high performing team in our offices in Montreal, 3 days per week.

At Fincentify, product design engineers are responsible for owning the full design-to-production lifecycle for intuitive, user-centered experiences of fintech products that empower hundreds of thousands of credit-invisible consumers across Canada and the United States.

This new role is a blend of a product designer and a front-end developer, leveraging AI-native development to bridge the gap between design and implementation.

To succeed at Fincentify, we must be critical thinkers who know how to dissect the problem as proficiently as they know how to build the solution. While the bar is set high for output, we value your commercial acumen just as much. That includes the ability to be intellectually flexible, change course and iterate to drive better outcomes.

If you are an over-achiever, efficient worker and love to have your work measured by outcome and impact, we are the team for you.

What you’ll do
  • Lead UX/UI design for consumer-facing fintech features and products
  • Implement designs into polished React JS and React Native components leveraging AI-native development with Figma to Claude Code .
  • Create and maintain a scalable design system in Figma
  • Prototype interactions in code—animations, micro-interactions, gestures using Lottie JS
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and translate insights into design decisions
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and production-ready designs in Figma
  • Creating and enforcing style guides across the organization
  • Build and maintain a scalable design system with dev-ready components
  • Ensure accessibility (WCAG) and mobile-first responsive design
  • Partner with key stakeholders to define specifications and product goals
What we’re looking for
  • 3+ years experience in product design, frontend development, or a hybrid role
  • Expert proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, prototyping, variables)
  • Demonstrated clear ability for product design (portfolio and past projects)
  • Experience with basic HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React JS and React Native.
  • Experience or strong willingness to learn AI-assisted development workflows (Claude Code)
  • University degree (min. Bachelors) in Product Design,Human Computer Interaction or Engineering from a reputable university in Canada or in the United States.
  • Obsessive attention to detail—polish, motion, edge cases
  • Strong communication skills: able to discuss trade-offs clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

How we work
  • Outcome-driven: engineers are accountable for outcomes and real impact, not lines of code, nor time spent and effort.
  • Direct feedback: we value and expect clear, candid communication across all team members.
  • Velocity with discipline: high throughput, but not at the expense of correctness or reliability.
  • Data over ego: arguments are won with evidence and reasoning, not titles or emotions.

Compensation & benefits

We pay for impact and hold a high bar.

  • Total target compensation: CAD $120,000 – $220,000, depending on experience and demonstrated ability.
    • Base salary: CAD $110,000 - $160,000
    • EOY cash bonus (range CAD $10,000 - $60,000) directly tied to your individual performance and a percentage of the company's profit.
  • Benefits:

    • 4 Weeks PTO per year
    • $1,000 annual wellness account
    • Professional development & learning stipend
    • Monthly transit pass stipend
